*** Due to the severity of side effects reported by many users, the FDA has banned the sale of HCG as an over the counter supplement. For this reason, we currently recommend Garcinia Cambogia as an alternative. Garcinia Cambogia has been shown to produce exceptional results, and since it is a natural supplement it does not have the risks associated with HCG.***
What is the HCG Diet?
These days, a new diet is back on America’s radar, promising individuals from all backgrounds that it can help them lose at least a pound a week. The HCG diet was developed by a doctor who believed that a hormone that can be found within a woman’s body during pregnancy could be used to assist overweight men and women get rid of unwanted weight, and keep that weight off. The acronym HCG itself stands for Human chorionic gonadotropin, and whilst this hormone is present both in women and men alike, it is produced in specifically high amounts within the bodies of pregnant females.
Throughout pregnancy, this hormone practically takes over a woman’s metabolic system entirely and in non-pregnant individuals, research has begun to suggest that the use of HCG can increase the metabolism to that similar of a pregnant woman. This means that thousands of calories that have been stored as fat are released, used, or expelled, helping people to quickly and easily lose weight.
It has been found that the average individual undergoing the strict rules of the HCG diet could lose anywhere between one to three pounds per week, and addition to shedding that unwanted fat, the diet helps the user in modifying their relationship with eating and food, resulting in a change of lifestyle that maintains a long-term healthy, ideal weight.
Within the 1930s, a doctor named Simeons discovered that boys being treated with HCG were able to lose a great deal of excess weight as they could eat less without struggling with any hunger pans. This opened up Simeon’s interest in HCG as a potential diet aid, and after two decades of research, has finally published a paper discussing its various effects, and developed a regiment that uses the drug as a tool for Weight Loss.
The HCG diet or weight-loss protocol consists of two primary factors, an incredibly low-calorie diet, which is used to ensure that the fat cells within the body do not take any extra fat once other cells have been expelled, and a regimen of oral or injected HCG treatments. Typically, each round of treatment will last around twenty-six days, and for twenty-three of those days the dieter must receive a daily dose of HCG, however, treatment can last anywhere up to 43 days in some cases (with 40 doses). Patients receive no HCG during the last days of their treatment so that the hormone can cycle out of their body and allow them to resume a normal steady diet.
How does HCG assist Weight Loss?
The HCG weight-loss protocol works by combining a very low-calorie diet (VLCD) and the administration of the HCG hormone on a daily basis, via injections. One of the main factors that contribute to weight loss through the HCG diet is that it helps you to get rid of weight and body fat. When it comes to dieting, a lot of people are interested in not only the weight side of things but also the inches that they can lose in the process.
What makes the treatment with HCG so effective is the fact that patients have been found to lose a significant amount more body fat than other patients who simply use low calorie or very-low-calorie diets. The impact provides an improved image through body shape, and contour, specifically around the trickiest areas to reduce such as the buttocks and thighs.
By not only removing the unwanted fat from your body, by expelling or using up cells rapidly, but the HCG diet protocol also reduces the desire to eat more by limiting the presence of hunger pangs. Because of this, you are more likely to keep the weight off and live a healthier lifestyle even after the diet is completed.
Once your treatment with the very low-calorie diet ends, you will go through a maintenance period wherein your level of calories will be restored to their normal rates, but the ingredients that could be stored as fat by the body are restricted. The body then realigns itself into a regular eating routine without the excess fat storage, diminishing your chances of rebounding back to your original weight. Some of the many benefits that can be experienced through the HCG diet include:
- Increased motivation and energy
- Better eating habits and an end to over-eating
- Improved confidence and a more pleasing shape
- Improved health markers and a better base metabolism
Are there any side effects?
Some of the side-effects of HCG may not have been reported, so it is important that you consult your healthcare specialist or doctor for medical advice if you think something might be wrong. Some of the general side effects of HCG include:
Genitourinary effects have included gynecomastia and precocious puberty. Psychiatric side effects have been known to include depression. Hematologic side effects include the rare occurrence of arterial thromboembolism.
You might find that if you choose to have the injections of HCG that the area wherein you receive your injection feels a little sore or painful after you have gotten it. If the area appears red or inflamed, you should see your doctor immediately.
Some hypersensitivity side effects have included isolated scenes of allergic reactions which often manifest themselves in the form as relatively mild and quite reversible rashes on the skin. Some of the post-marketing reports have also included some anaphylactic reactions.
If you feel that you are suffering from anything that has been mentioned on this list or have had another form of reaction to the treatment, it is important that you speak to your health care professional immediately.
How is HCG made?
In order to manufacture a dose of HCG either in a drop or injection form, a medical professional must take 125 international units of HCG powder and mix it carefully with sterilized water. The HCG hormone is typically extracted from the urine of pregnant women, refined, and cleaned to the point that it is turned into a powder. You needn’t worry that there are any moral or sanitary problems when it comes to taking HCG as an aid for weight loss.
Once that powder has been mixed with sterile water, it is ready to be taken, either by being placed beneath the tongue so that it can be absorbed by the skin into a large amount of blood cells there or by injection. If you do take your dose of HCG under the tongue you may be required to take it more than once a day as the HCG can sometimes not be completely absorbed each time.
When it comes to selecting the correct dosage of HCG for you, you will often require some assistance from a professional. Typically, the recommended dosage will depend on whether you decide to take the HCG hormone by injection or via absorption beneath the tongue. If you decide to use the drops beneath the tongue, you may have to take more than the originally recommended amount on a daily basis, as it can sometimes fail to be completely absorbed each time.
If you are injecting the HCG, then the dose that Dr. Simeons recommends is anywhere between 125 international units (IU) and 175 IU. Kevin Trudeau however considers 175 to 200 IU to be the ideal dose, however. Most people inject a dose of somewhere between 150 IU to 175 IU per day, and it is recommended that you do not exceed the maximum of 200 IU.
One thing you may want to bear in mind when you are initially getting started is that if you start off using higher dosages, you can gradually become immune to the HCG faster than you otherwise would. Some people will also suggest skipping an injection once a week if you know you are going to be on the diet for at least forty two days, however, this is something you should discuss with your health care professional.
Always be sure that you are confident with the instructions and the dosage amounts recommended with your HCG injections before you get started on taking them. If you feel that you have accidentally taken too much, contact a doctor immediately.
